---The origins of the PSW model; ---Basic assumptions of the PSW model; ---An overview of how eligibility is determined using the model; ---Critical questions to address in developing a PSW model.----Day 2: ------
Procedures for determining eligibility as a student with a specific learning disability (SLD) under the PSW model. Training to include: ---Discussion of, and practice with 3 models for identifying students with SLD using a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses (PSW) approach: 1) Data collection; 2) Procedures; 3) Decision rules; ---Review on ruling out other factors (lack of educational opportunity, English learner, emotional disturbance); ---Training will involve practice in using various PSW methods for identifying SLD; ---Training will address all steps in eligibility determination including collecting pre-referral information required by IDEA
